Our Teacher Leaders
Wildflower Teacher Leaders create and lead their schools with hearts and minds focused on the limitless potential of the children entrusted to them. Wildflower Schools are designed, opened, and led by entrepreneurial Montessori teachers with a passion for community-embedded, liberatory education.

Claudia Diliberto
Founding Teacher Leader
AMI trained Primary Guide
Originally from Peru, Claudia began her career as a lawyer, where she spent many years advocating for others and serving her community. During that time, she was also involved in volunteer initiatives supporting children and youth through sports, including coaching soccer.
Her path into education became deeply personal after becoming a mother to her two sons, Lucas and Capri. Wanting to better understand how children learn and develop their unique potential led her to discover the work of Dr. Maria Montessori and the child-centered philosophy that now guides her work.
Claudia completed her AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) Primary Guide training at the Montessori Training Center Northeast and is the Founding Teacher Leader of Wildflower Upstate New York Charter School's very first classroom. She also holds training in Montessori movement and sports education, reflecting her belief that movement, independence, and confidence are essential parts of child development.

Nuestro equipo
Wildflower schools are built on teacher autonomy, small-scale design, and decentralized governance. An Executive Director acts as a partner in this work by handling operational, financial, and charter compliance-related responsibilities that allow educators to focus on what matters most: devoting their energy to children and community while leading thriving Montessori classrooms.

Founder Courtney Murphy attended Ballston Spa schools k-12 and graduated in 2005. She later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, and a Masters in Special Education. She continued her education by earning an advanced certificate in Special Education from Relay Graduate School of Education. She has 15 years experience working in a range of roles in schools- from substitute teaching and coaching volleyball in Ballston Spa, to working as a special education teacher in Harlem, as well as most recently serving as an Assistant Principal in Albany.
Perhaps her most important job title to date is that of ‘Mom.’ She took time off from traditional ‘work’ in October of 2024 to be home with her 3 children and start this latest adventure in education. She lives in Ballston Spa with her high school sweetheart, Mike, and their 3 children.
After being able to witness the child-centered Montessori philosophy in action when her oldest daughter attended a Montessori primary classroom from age 3-5, she knew she wanted to create access to Montessori for all students. That's precisely how Wildflower Upstate New York Charter School came to be. Courtney was the lead applicant for the charter application process through SUNY Charter Schools Institute and now serves as the Founding Executive Director.
Nuestra Junta
Guided by Teal principles of self-management, wholeness, and evolutionary purpose, our Board serves as a steward rather than a traditional top-down authority. The Board’s role is to nurture leadership, protect the integrity of our mission, and ensure long-term sustainability. By supporting and elevating the Executive Director and Teacher Leaders, the Board creates the conditions for empowered leadership, while maintaining clear accountability to our vision, community, and charter obligations.
